How to Get More Email Newsletter Subscribers
We’ve written before about how email marketing can be much more effective—and cost-effective—than social media. But the only way it will be effective is by having a large, relevant group of subscribers. In this post, we’ll tell you how to grow your subscription list much more quickly, using a number of tried-and-true tools.
WordPress Media Library for Power Users
This week, a social media pro asked us how we would get download her client’s WordPress media library. Her client has a website that protects its images from being right-clicked and downloaded. We can easily subvert by using Chrome’s debugging panel, but perhaps “easily” should go in quotes. Grabbing images one by one is pain for a website with thousands of images, and instead it would be a lot easier to just download the whole Media Library. We would typically do this with FTP—but again, for non-coders, FTP is not exactly intuitive or easy. You have to download an FTP client, obtain login settings or set them up for the first time, navigate through the folder structures to determine exactly what you need. We considered the issue a bit, and found a plugin that allows you to download the entire Media Library at one time.
Choosing a Graphic Designer for the Web and for Print
When I first started working in graphic design, the World Wide Web barely existed. The few websites out there in 1994 could barely be said to be designed at all. Perhaps you too can remember snowflakes raining down your screen or dots flashing on and off. Back then, most graphic design was for print. Now, the balance has completely flipped, and print design is only a small sliver of the work that I do. Today one of our clients mentioned that she had worked with a graphic designer who only did print work, and we were a bit taken aback. These days, it’s hard to imagine surviving on just print work. That made us think about the skill sets necessary for a print designer, versus a web designer. Before you consider hiring a graphic designer, do check to see where her expertise lies.
