3 Great WordPress Calendar Plugins

One of the most requested features we see when we build a WordPress website is a calendar. We have yet to see a calendar as a built-in feature of any WordPress theme, though! You can always use a Google Calendar, which is easy to embed and makes it a snap for collaborators to share information. The only problem? Google Calendars are incredibly ugly. (Seriously, Google, we would love it if you offered better styling options for your calendars. And that said, we have done some custom styling using Javascript for a Google calendar for a client on a Squarespace website.) Never fear: that’s where plugins come in. In our neverending quest to find the best of the best, we round up our favorite calendar plugins for WordPress in order from simplest to most complex.

5 Things You Should Know About Shopify

We’ve set up e-commerce websites with Magento, with WooCommerce (for WordPress), with Wix, with Squarespace, with Zen Cart… and we’re sure there are a few other platforms we’ve missed. But one platform we really love for selling online is Shopify. If you need to do something “weird” with your store, WordPress will almost certainly be a better solution for you. We’ve built custom stores with WordPress that allow users to preview overlay customization on their products, and other stores where they can design the product online. That level of modification will almost certainly require an open-source solution like WordPress. But 95% of the time, a platform like Shopify can accommodate your needs as a seller.

Tech Wearables for Women

Ah, crowdfunded product development. So much promise! Back in 2014, we bought into a concept called “Cuff,” a line of jewelry that was meant to act as a safety device, to prevent you from leaving your phone behind, and to track fitness-related activity. After countless delays to the ship date, we checked on their website one last time yesterday to see what the heck happened to our preorder. To our dismay but not our surprise, Cuff is officially out of business. Fortunately, the wearable market is exploding, and there are other products that actually DID make it into production. Here are a few we found while trying to salve our disappointment over the demise of Cuff.
