Last week, we quietly added a button to our Tech Support page. After years of using TeamViewer and Logmein products for remote support, we have switched to a new-to-us product called AeroAdmin. While we love offering remote support, we didn’t love the process of walking people through installing our remote support tools. And while Logmein is a great product that has gotten much easier to use in the past year or two, we don’t love the pricing for it—now over $100 per month. After all, the lower our cost for support tools, the less it costs you too. AeroAdmin is only $69.90 per seat per year, and it allows us to establish remote access to an unlimited number of computers.

Why We Chose AeroAdmin: The Customer Side

When your computer is having problems, we know the last thing you want to do is to download a big piece of software and wait for it to install. We also don’t want you to have to be there when we’re working on it. To download the AeroAdmin software, our users just have to click a button and download a small file (only about 2 MB). You’ll give us a code, and we’ll be able to get working on your computer in a matter of moments. And once you’ve clicked that AeroAdmin button, you don’t have to do it again each time we need to remote in to your computer. We’ll be able to fix it when you’re out of the office, allowing you to make the most of your valuable time.

One other cool feature is that you can use AeroAdmin to send us an “SOS” message. Just press a button and you can write an instant message asking for help. When we see your message, we won’t have to look through our contacts to find your information or ask you follow-up questions about which computer we need to repair. Instead, we’ll just click to connect to you. And the system creates a ticket for you, making it easier to ensure that the repair is followed through to completion.

Why We Chose AeroAdmin: The IT Manager Side

Beyond acting as a spontaneous remote helpdesk, AeroAdmin also gives us data about all the computers we’re managing in one convenient spot. This allows us to see, at a glance, if a computer is behind on Windows updates, or if the Dell computer is out of warranty, or even if someone has installed a particular unauthorized application.

We also appreciate that AeroAdmin prioritizes security. It uses AES and RSA algorithms to encrypt any data transmitted during a remote session. These are the same digital security standards employed by banks and governments, so we can feel confident that your data is protected.

We also see the potential for our clients. For example, AeroAdmin could be used to let your employees work remotely by connecting to a computer from their home or other workspace.

You could also use AeroAdmin to host an online meeting or webinar. Simply send a link to the people you want to join your session, and tell them your ID and password. Participants don’t even have to install the software or sign up for anything.
